France: EIB joins international effort for environmentally-fiendly ports – On 11.02.2022, the EIB announced that at the One Ocean Summit in Brest (France), a number of port authorities and stakeholders from around the world signed a joint commitment to reduce the environmental impact of container and cruise ship calls during their voyages at sea. The EIB supports the declaration, which is also supported by EU Member States and the wider international community. The declaration, taken at the initiative of the French Ministry of Transport, sets a new goal for the promotion of green shipping. It is also consistent with the principle of the blue economy, which aims to make all human activities around seas, rivers and lakes respectful of the environment and biodiversity.

Port of Civitavecchia: legality in road transport for a more competitive system – On 11.02. 2022, during a press conference organised at the Port of Civitavecchia with the president of the Port System Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Pino Musolino, the secretary general of Assotir, Claudio Donati, and the road haulage representative at the AdSP, Patrizio Loffarelli, legality was discussed; the role of road haulage in the port of Civitavecchia; the problem of the lack of drivers and the efficiency of the supply chain; and the correct application of the CCNL Logistics, Freight and Shipping. At the centre of the meeting were all the issues dear to the sector, also in the light of the work carried out by the Commission for Transparency and Legality in Road Transport, requested and promoted by Assotir, and the protocol signed last October. In fact, the objective of the initiative is to guarantee companies that work in compliance with the rules and that instead often find themselves having to deal with unfair competition from companies that, although operating normally in the port, do not guarantee compliance with the same standards of legality.
